Aksa Elektrik Group and Uzbekistan Regional Electric Networks Sign Memorandum of Understanding for Public-Private Partnership Modernization Project
Aksa Elektrik Group and the Uzbekistan Regional Electric Networks Administration have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the “Modernization of Electricity Distribution Networks in Uzbekistan through Public-Private Partnership.”
According to the company statement, the agreement was signed by Alper Erbaş, Executive Board Member of Aksa Elektrik Group and General Manager of Distribution Companies, on behalf of Aksa, and Askarov Asrorjon Akramovich, Deputy Chairman of the Uzbekistan Regional Electric Networks Administration.
In the statement, Alper Erbaş emphasized that Aksa Group is well-acquainted with Uzbekistan, and noted that since the first quarter of 2022, Aksa Energy has become the largest Turkish energy investor in the country.
Erbaş highlighted that Aksa currently provides electricity distribution services to nearly 4 million people across 9 cities in Türkiye, and said:
"In line with our principle of operational excellence, we continue to optimize our network operations using advanced technology. Through the USD 1 billion investment we’ve made to date, we've extended and strengthened our electricity distribution lines to a length that could circle the equator three times."
Erbaş also underscored that Aksa Elektrik Group’s “2030 Global Strategy” focuses on sustainable high growth, globalization, and institutionalization, and added:
"We place great importance on leveraging our expertise—honed in the challenging terrains of Eastern Anatolia and the Eastern Black Sea regions of Türkiye—beyond national borders to diversify our portfolio and revenue streams, while also representing our country on the global stage.
Uzbekistan holds a geostrategic position along the East-West trade corridor. The country is aware of its economic growth potential and is accelerating energy generation investments accordingly. Electricity distribution, which serves as a strategic bridge between generation and consumption points, plays a vital role in ensuring the success of these investments.
As Aksa Elektrik Group, we are honored to share our deep industry experience with our sister nation Uzbekistan."
